Many long-term foot problems originate in childhood from as early as seven or eight, especially in children with very “flexible” feet. The underlying cause is that our feet were not designed by nature to walk on hard flat surfaces. To avoid development of permanent deformity, early diagnosis and treatment are needed.
Conditions treated include:
- Flexible flat feet
- Early onset bunions
- Sever’s disease (pain around base of heel)
- Osgood-Schlatter’s disease (pain below front of knee)
- Various gait abnormalities e.g toe-walking and in-toeing
These problems are often treated by use of specialised paediatric insoles
